It's a living thing...

Any illness-related posts have now gone to Sandwich Tears (another blog...I need to downsize big time). In the meantime...I recently acquired this original globe terrarium at a sidewalk sale for $5. She must have been nuts, but I thank her for it. I designed a terrarium set up and am so pleased with the results. Hopefully my succulents like the new space...time will tell!

Life is a whole lot of this...

Still with this illness (now diagnosed chronic boo lame) which leaves me with just enough energy to just cook, and not much else. Still updating my tumblr since its easier for now...

Nennette et Boni

Posted this on the tumblr a bit ago, but wanted to share here. I adore the Tindersticks and am sad they are only touring their live show of their Claire Denis film scores in select cities. I did enjoy this clip they posted to promote the series, from the amazing Nenette et Boni. I keep watching it and wishing I was swimming. The whole soundtrack is ridiculously magical.

Still/Sick

This has been one interesting year so far, and it's not even at the halfway mark yet. A month ago I developed a leg infection, which then led to the appearance of 2 auto-immune diseases called Evan's Syndrome and ITP. Which is when you're blood platelets get consumed up as soon as they are made. Being admitted to the hospital for observation/treatment wasnt fun, especially since I've never even been in one for stitches or a sprained ankle.

A hefty hospital bill is coming my way at a time when I'm supposed to start paying tuition for grad school in the next couple months. That said all this has made me really want to stop waiting around to do things because of money, resources etc, as it seems I always have excuses to postpone everything. Easier said than done, but I'm going to make this my mission for the rest of the year.

miscellaneous

Whoah! has it really been 2 months since I've updated this?? Well, there are excuses...mainly that I had to visit the schools I was accepted into for grad school, went to Miami for vacation, busy at my full time job, and busy at the night school I go to (we're designing a compost system for a school!). So in the spirit of being all over the place, here's a post that's all over the place.

I actually really loved Miami. I went there as a little girl, but I found it to be so much fun, and the weather was great. We were lucky enough to be there the weekend of Winter Music Conference as well as Second Saturday arts walk in the design district. That was tons of fun.

Visited Charlottesville, and stopped by DC which I've never been to. The cherry blossoms were in bloom!
that's it for now....

Waiting

I've started a job at which I can't really mess around on the web, making it pretty annoying though alot more productive. On top of that I have classes at night so as soon as I get home sometimes I feel I have absolutely no content to add here, seeing as my mind has been cluttered with mundane work/school things. Hopefully spring will also blossom inspiration as well as flowers. I really need it right now.

I did, however see the trailer for Norwegian Wood last night and it looks so pretty by itself, I can only imagine what the whole film will be like.

Non Digital Part 1

I finally got around to sending some realllly old film off to develop. Most is from living in New York, I still like the results.

Yo Soy Rebelde

Happy Friday! it's -20 here with the windchill. Although to be honest, give me bitter cold over several feet of snow anyday (it takes forever to melt and is a mess to navigate in). Jeanette here is from Spain, so she probably is pretty warm right now. I love this song, especially the chorus saying that she's a rebel because the cold-hearted world turned her into one. Not that I believe shes capable of rebelliousness..she sounds like Claudine Longet meets Isobel Campbell.

Greenery

I don't mind the winter at all, but the thing I do miss is being able to garden on our patio. I may have to start cultivating a bit more indoors.

New Years

Hope you all had a good New Years! Mine was a success since I didnt wake up with a hangover, but still danced the night away at two good parties that just happened to be by my house. I love when that happens. I wore my beloved Dear Creatures "Captain" dress and my dude is wearing his Lanvin jacket.

The dj at the second party closed out the night with one of my favorite songs of all time...
