Parisian Friday

Finally friday! today I'm all about...

This felt birdhouse from French company Serendipity. The perfect marriage of two things I love haha... (via decocentric)

Jane Lougee. Former publisher of hip Paris literary zine, Merlin, during the 50s. I'm reading a great book about that whole scene and everyone involved. She just seemed so cool and her style was great as well. She was admired by tons of men, including author Alex Trocchi whom she dated.

Have a great weekend!

Lomo Birds

I recently received a green Diana lomo camera, which i'm extremely excited about. Despite the first hurdles, like getting 120 film (that took forever), and installing the film and mask I'm ready to shoot! I've taken a couple pictures so far and once I get them back I'll post up my sure-to-be frighteningly bad experiments :) I've browsed flickr & found some great photos for inspiration...

♥ Sundays

This is the good thing about it being -2 degrees outside is thay I stay in and get stuff done! Felt wreaths soon to be for sale, and probably one more little Matryoshka doll. The grey wreath is embellished with Marimekko fabric hearts, pieces of which I was a little hesitant to part with haha. Hopefully your Sunday isn't as cold!

Structured Approaches

I love items I come across which have to do with modern architecture and its relationship to nature, and these two structures seem to have style and conservation in mind!

Chicago-based Studio Gang have some of the coolest architecture coming out of here and their projects seem to take the next step in becoming welcome, not imposing, in their surroundings. An upcoming environmental center has been built with bird safety in mind by having a light mesh surround the porches & windows, and their residential building plans have included tilted windows.

I was also glad to come across these amazing modern birdhouses by firm Raumhochrosen. If only I were tiny enough to live in them! (via anything goes)

Taken by Birds

It's near the middle of January here but yesterday there were thunderstorms and it was 64F. I wish the weather would make up its mind! I started work on a wreath yesterday but late/early hours at work mean I don't have much time to myself in the evenings. Victoria Bergsman's solo project, Taken By Trees is keeping my ears busy at least! Her hair always makes me want to cut mine. If only it were straighter. Anyway, have a listen!

So, we've taken care of your ears, what about your eyes? Feast them on this cute animated promo spot by Yves Geleyn, who has more cute video goodness on his site. (via Damian)

I know my Chicken

Miss Alyson over at Unruly Things tipped me to these sweet pewter measuring spoons. They look so delicate I'd rather display them than use them! :)

In news there's a great article on the Telegraph website on Jamie oliver's campaign for chicken welfare. A good read!

back to business

Joe McLaren unique illustrations. I love the warm color palette!
