Sneeze/sniffle

today I've had some pretty bad allergies which has consequently made my mind equally as foggy. Also I'm preparing for an extended stay in California this summer which has me going crazy due to organizing everything. On top of that I'm working on some pieces for an art show. Related to art, but not the show, here's a little something I did the other night.

Kia Neil's installations and pieces make me feel really inadequate. By that I mean they are very special.

Les Mittens

My new favorite women are The Mittens, a sassy group of French fixed-gear bike riders. Recently denim brand Edwin included them in promos for their products, shot by Paul Hackmann. Bravo for taking some awesome, real women to use as models! Follow the girls on their blog as they ride across Europe (in French)

Blixen Rooms

Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa, had some pretty interesting rooms in her residences in Copenhagen & Nairobi. Both locations still maintain her former homes, and have opened them up as museums.

Seed Cathedral

This UK pavilion designed by Thomas Heatherwick for the Shanghai Expo which started over the weekend, has blown me away. It's made of acrylic rods, which EACH have at their tip, various types of seeds. Check out a video of it in movement below.

grossomodo dress

Spanish group grossomodo (using a suturno fabric) have posted some amazing work in progress for some simple summer dresses coming up. I cannot wait to see the full product, and would love that second dress, the print is amazing.

I am so so fond of this series of illustrations from Stewart. I wish she had these prints for sale, but you can still find some amazing prints at her store.

Monday miscellany

This weekend has had some pretty amazing weather, after enjoying it, today I am splitting my time between several pending things such as moving (again) and writing a paper (obvs. not doing so well at the moment). Here are some random likes from my week so far:

Annawili Highfield

I'm opposed to keeping birds as pets, but I would definitely keep several of these paper bird sculptures. More of Annawili's talent can be seen at her site.

Also, I've changed things up a it around here seeing as its this little blog's 4 year anniversary this week. I'm in the process of making tweaks ere and there. Hopefully you like it!
