Omnia Vincit Amor

Everyone's favorite jewelry designer turned Wes Anderson film staple, Waris Ahluwalia, has been noticing wallpapers like I have! His last collection on display at Colette, was inspired by a bathroom at Hotel Raphael while in Paris with Wes. Entitled Omnia Vincit Amor, it features four designs based on four bird personalities. Gotta love that bird-concept art jewelry!

Still recovering from my cold (when i get sick it usually lasts a while) and FINALLY finishing the music video which I will share once I get word on some possibly fun news from the PR company. In the meantime, I'm thinking about my next project which will likely be a mini musical of sorts.

- The New York Times has a small piece on the frustrations of making a bird feeder work well with one's home. Living in an apartment, I can relate!

- Waxwings: "hip and a bit more groovy" ?

- Speaking of birdfeeders, here's some tips on what birds like what!

The Guardian recently did a feature on bird motifs and their resurgence. They picked some of their favorite items and included some things that made me question whomever picked them! I guess I was expecting a little something better. In any case, here are two items I recently want for my own home.

Gustav Almestål

Gustav's still lifes and portraits have a candid and soft quality. Definitely calming to look at in my crazy week ahead! Also, I can't get enough of swans in photographs...

Prince Birds

Pleasantly surprised by this ceramic pair featured on Etsy today by PrinceDesignUK. I suppose it's the simplicity that appeals to me! They also make a nice bowl version of these.

Weather Outside ≈ frightful

It's been a tough month. Blizzards, endless snow, deep freezes. It's -25 outside with the windchill. On top of that, I now have a cold. All I am craving right now is Tuscan White Bean Soup, which is pretty much the only soup I can make.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a good, simple soup recipe let me know :)

Carolina Melis

soft, delicate, colorful work by artist and director Carolina Melis. I especially love her music video for the amazing Colleen (below). Pretty song, pretty video!

More of her work.....
Speaking of, this weekend I'm busy on a finishing edit of a music video I did for my friend Tania, so I'll be rather busy. Hopefully I can share it with you next week!

Spotted...Laduree Birds in Ginza

I'm so into antique dealer/interior designer Roxane Rodriguez's work for Laduree's Ginza location, which opened in Japan last summer. I wish I had that wallpaper! Ok I actually wish I had the entire room. But I'm pretty sure the wallpaper costs as much as the rent for my current room!

The loneliness of the Chinese Birdwatcher

I had no idea about the existence of this extremely rare bird (and so lovely as well), but thanks to this amazing article in last weeks Economist (of all places haha!) I now wish I was there helping them with their efforts. Also great information on the state of bird protection in China.

Laurie Frankel's photography is right up my alley, in all its quiet, reflective ways...
